June Nail Art Challenge - Day 1: Summer (500 days of Summer)

Hey guys, well I am starging this new challenge by Californails. She does challenges like these every month. I did the December challenge and I really enjoy it and as I have some time know as I'm finishing exams and stuff next week I will give this challenge a try.

Day one's theme was summer. I wasn't feeling really summerish because weather has been terrible these days, then I saw The Nailsaurus design inspired by this amazing film 500 days of Summer. And I had a brilliant idea the theme was summer right so I did summer!

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I really like the film and the way The Nailsaurus did all these designs to represent it it's just perfect.

Here are all the colors I used including this wonderful gray which I painted my thumb with, it's new I just bought it today and I really like it.

This is just the first post of this challenge keep tuned to see more designs. I will be uploading a design for the Deadly Sins challenge soon, I haven't forgot about Envy, this week's sin. Don't forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Happy polishing!

Cattails at Sunset

Hey guys! Well today I recreated this wonderful design by Chalkboard Nails. She did this perfect gradient recreating a sky at sunset and added these cattails. Well I think I didn’t quite well….. It sucks a bit. It isn’t that bad but I couldn’t get the transition of the colors right, the gradient effect. I can never get gradients right.

As you can see I’m not the best at gradients. I don’t know what I do wrong but they just look messy and I can’t really achieve that gradient effect. I guess I’ll have to practisse my sponging skills. Do you know any tricks or tips for a perfect gradient? It would sure help me a lot.
These are the colors I used for this design:

I also used my new nail art brushes from Bangood which you can find here at a really good price.

Well I hope you like this recreation of Chalkboard Nails design. If you don’t know her check her blog she’s an amazing artist. Don’t be to harsh on me. Don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions. Happy polishing lovelies!

Doctor Who!

Happy geek pride day guys!! I’ve been wanting to do Doctor Who nails for quite a while now. I started watching the show not that long ago and I’m already finishing season 5. It’s so addicting and it’s omg I love the show and everything it’s just oh well perfect! Today was the perfect day to get nerdy and do my Doctor nails!

I was planning on doing this design tomorrow, as I had just painted my nails yesterday, but I did a little sketching and planning to decide what I wanted to do on my nails and I was so excited to do them that I couldn’t wait to tomorrow. I’m totally in love with them! Any whovians around? What do you think?

It took me quite a long to decide what I was going to do on my nails, there’s so many things I could draw on them related to the show! But at the end I made up my mind and ended up with these things:

Thumb: Doctor Who logo over an orange galaxy
Index: Sonic Screwdriver
Middle: The Doctor
Ring: The Tardis
Pinky: a Dalek

I am so in love with my nails right now I think I might even keep them for like three days omg that must mean something don’t you think? hahaha. I’m sure I will be doing more Doctor Who nails, as I said there’s so many things I could paint lots of themes and characters… mmm I have some thinking to do, but after my exams…

Well I hope you like this awesome design, and if you haven’t watched Doctor Who… what are you waiting for?!? You will enjoy each and every second of it!

These are all the colors I used to do this mani. They are so many of them I had to divide them into two pictures. First picture is the colors I used for the galaxy on my thumb and the other picture is the colors I used for the rest of the nails:

Well lovelies, I hope you have an awesome day, celebrate your geekness and keep tunned because this week I will be doing another mani for the Deadly Sins Challenge! Don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions! Happy polishing and watch Doctor Who!

Psychedelic Tie Dye

Hey lovelies! Well I saw this awesome design on instagram and I had to try myself. This is the first time I try this tie dye technique and it really didn’t came out so well so I took it all of my nails and then on my second try, well it looks a bit better.

I will be trying this technique again with different colours in the future. I think it’s a wonderful idea for summer. What do you think about this technique? These are the colours I used for this design, bright and colorful colors don’t you think?

Don’t look too much at your nails if you try this design  you will probably get dizzy ahahha I’m trippin on these psychedelic nails hahaha just kidding. Hope you liked this design, don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions for me. Happy polishing!

Ikat Nails Tutorial

Hey guys, as promissed a quick tutorial on the rainbow ikat nails I did yesterday. They are perfect for spring and summer and  you can do them with any color you want.

1. Use your favorite base coat to protect your natural nail and then paint your nai with a light color, I chose a pastel yellow.
2. Make two irregular triangles using a brush. They dont need to be perfect and make sure they aren’t too close together.
3. Get black poish and make irregular strokes around the yellow part
4. Suround all the yellow bit
5. Make the same on all the yellow spots you created before. Make sure black and black don’t touch thereselves, that would ruin the design.
6. At the centre of the yellow spot make a white spot, it should also look irregular.
7. Get a small brush and at the centre make a few black strokes to finish the design.
8. Top coat your design to make it last longer and you are done!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and you try it yourselves. I would love to see your different versions of my rainbow ikat nails. If you liked this don’t forget to check my other tutorials on the tutorials page. So like, share with your friends and comment if you have any questions or suggestions for nail art or tutorials. Happy polishing!

Rainbow Ikat Nails

Hi lovelies! Well I couldn’t stand staring at my naked nails so I found a little time to do this simple but cute design. I’ve seen lots of ikat nail designs but today I fell in love with a wonderful rainbow version by Top Coat it, which you can see here. I think I did quite a good recreation of this wonderful mani but judge yourselves.

Ikat nails are really simple, you don’t need any special tooks or a steady hand. I will post a tutorial on this design so you can see for yourselves that anyone can do it. Keep tuned for the tutorial, which I will probably be uploading tomorrow.
These are all the colors I used for this design, yes I know quite a lot but they look great together, don’t they?

Hope you guys liked this design, and you keep tuned for the tutorial on it. Don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. I must say I really feel happy now my nails are polished and I got rid of the watershitymarble design lol. Happy polishing, oh and for those who like me are doing their finals soon lots of luck!

Deadly Sins Challenge – Day 9: Wrath (Watermarble)

Hey guys! Well it’s time for a new entry to the Deadly Sins Challenge. Today’s theme was ”Get mad trying, again, that technique you know it’s going to be a fail”. Since I started doing nail art I’ve struggled with watermarbling… I’ve tried it so many times and I fail harder everytime. I had the hope that as today it didn’t matter if I did a mess, as that’s the idea of the sin today, it would turn out not good but acceptable, but it didn’t happen.

It was a total mess and a big big NAIL FAIL! I mean look at them they look horrible! The photo is terrible, I know, I was so angy about how they turned out I didn’t even bother about my hand pose or the cleaning up, I didn’t even put a proper water mark – who would want to steal this huh?. At this moment my nails are naked because I prefer them to be naked than looking like this lol. Watermarbling is great I mean it looks great on people who know how to do them, but on me its always a fail. I don’t even know what I do wrong… Plus I leave everything really messy after I do watermarble just look:

This is what my dinning room table looked like after I finished, after I finished did the photo and then went right away to the bathroom grabbed cotton pads and removed ASAP! ahahahah Well when I do watermarble I always have a less hated nail and today that would be my ring finger, which actually doesn’t look that bad. But one finger didn’t save this mani from going off my nails straight away.

These are the colours I used for this failed design:

The result of this mani was terrible but well that was the objective, I had to get mad – I’m really really mad right now – and I had to try that technique I know I’m awful at, and that would be my beloved watermarbling technique – I HATE YOU, you are messy, a pain and you get in my cuticle and under my nails!
Well guys that was all. If you know any tricks about watermarbling or you know how I can do it better let me know. I wouldn’t share or like this mani hahahaha just tell me which is that technique that makes you mad because you can’t seem to dominate? Let me know on the comments below. Angry polishing!

Cryin'

Hey guys, well I found some time to do some nail art today. Monday I have a holiday so I’ll have time to study then. I mean it’s been four days! FOUR DAYS!!! since I did my nails that’s just not right! So well, for the people who’ve read the About Me section this isn’t new news and for the people who already know me in real life or follow me on my instagram or have been following me there for a while it’s just the same old song and dance, and yes this is a reference to AEROSMITH!! hahah well as I was saying people who know me, also know that a part from a nail polish obsession I’m a die-hard fan of Aerosmith, I mean I’m totally in love with their music and their front man, the legend, the Demon of Screaming, Steven Tyler. I even have a tattoo on my wrist were it says dream on, my favorite song by them.  Today’s mani is inspired by one of my favorite songs Cryin’. This song is amazing and has one of the catchiest riffs at the beginning, when I listen to it i can’t stop singing it, even my father, who is fed up of me takling about Aerosmith and singing their songs, has caught himself sometimes humming that riff. Let’s get to the point, today’s design is inpired by the cover of the single of this song.

The design was easy to make on nails and in fact this mani was really easy and quick to do which is an advantage as I have lots of things to do LOL. This isn’t my first Aerosmith inspired design, if you want to see my other mani just click here! I better show the design before I start talking about how much I love the song and the band and Steven hahaha.

Little close up of the writting and the baby bottle with the piercing, yes it’s that hahaha. I think it turned out great with the shadow effect it looks more realistic, don’t you think?

These are the colors I used for this design, not a lot of them this time:

Well I hope you liked this design. Are you Aerosmith fans? Do you know this song? Tell me what you think about it and don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions for me. Happy polishing!

Deadly Sins Challenge – Day 7: Sloth (Green Gradient Dots)

Hey guys! Today’s mani is a new entry to the Deadly sins challenge. The theme for this deisgn was ”Don’t try too hard but explain everyone how to do something really easy”. So I decided to do this dotticure. So easy to do for all you lazy heads just give it a try because it’s easy peasy, haha peasy peas green peas like the dots… ok i better get the show started.
When I was doing this mani I didn’t have in mind doing the tutorial for the challenge so I started doing my nails and then thought I oculd use it for the challenge. As I had already started the tutorial is on my right index so I did it with my non dominant hand that’s why the dots are a bit sloppy. But I was so lazy when I realized that I wasn’t going to take it off to make a tutorial so here you have it done with my left hand.

1. Apply your favorite base coat to protect your natural nails and then paint your nails dark green, I used Hugo Moss by Catrice.

2. Get a big dotting tool and make three dots with a lighter green. They don’t need to be in a straight line, mine aren’t.

3. Make three more dots with a different green

4. Repeat the same with another green

5. And again three dots with the last green that should be the lighter color.

6. Add a top coat to seal in the design and you are done!

This is the final result. It’s a really easy design and it looks great. You can do different variations of this design with different colors or starting with the lighter color as a base and go darker with the dots. You choose how you want it to be! These are the colors I used:

I hope you liked this design and you try it yourselves. Don’t forget to share with your friends, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. And let me know if you will try this design, I would love to see yours! Happy polishing!

Modernist Building

Hey guys! Well this weekend in my city there was this thing called ‘Fira Modernista’ where lots of shops are on the street and there’s lots of activities planned inspired in modernism. In Spain modernism is the same as Art Noveau, so people were all dressed up and it was all inspired by this era. I couldn’t do a related theme mani this weekend but I did it today. This mani was inspired by a modernist building in my city called Masia Freixa. It’s beautiful, one of the best things in my city. It’s in the middle of a wonderful park and its a lovely place to visit.

I don’t really do realistic nail art and this hasn’t turned out that well because of this but it doesn’t look that bad, does it? Well I think it looks like the building at least I think people would recognize it. This is a photo of the building that inspired my design:

I just painted one hand and I really don’t know what to do with the other one so the most likely thing to happen is that I take these off to do another thing on my two hands hahah. These are the colours I used for this design (greens and browns are for a tree i did on my thumb but didn't quite like so I didn't post the photo):

Don’t be to harsh on my realistic nail art skills. I hope you like my design and don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Happy polishing!

Stained Glass

Hey guys! It was difficul getting rid of my past mani because I really liked it but I wanted to try something. This mani was inspried by a wonderful design by one of my favorite nail artists I know, Lindsey aka Wondrously Polished. She did this stained design a while back and it’s been on my wanna do list since then. I tried using the same tones of green as her design and I think I was successful at recreating her mani.

I followed the tutorial she made for her mani. Easy steps to create a wonderful design:

107 Of course mine doesn’t look as good as her’s but I’m quite pleased of how it’s looking even though I like the colors she used better than mine. The colors I used are the following:

Both colors in the middle (mint green and grey) I mixed to make a nice greeny gray, because the grey on it’s own was too dark in my opinion and it didn’t look that well with the other colors.

I hope you liked this design and check out Lindsey’s blog for more awesome nail art and tutorials. Don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions on this design or any suggestions. Happy Polishing!

My Moon and Stars

Hey guys! Well as today two of my hex glitters came off my nails I decided to make some nail art. It isn’t very detail, it’s been a while since I’ve done some detailed nail art but as many of you know I have my final exams really soon so I don’t have much time.

Okay I don’t know if you are tired of galaxy but I’m not so heres a bit more. It’s the first tape mani combined with another techinique, this case sponging, that I do. I have a little surprise on my thumb hahaa. I’m quite happy of how it turned out. The design on my thumb was inspired by Flight of Whimsy’s Constellations nails and the idea of a tape galaxy came to my mind when I saw a gradient tape mani by Sparrow nails on Instagram.

Here’s a close up of my thumb:

I think this is the mani I have used more colors. I used tons of different blues and glitters for the blue galaxy, and then silvers and golds for the moon and the sun. Here are all, absolutely all the colors I used, I had to take different pictures because they didn’t even fit all in one.

I hope you like this design, and yes the title is a reference to Game Of Thrones, if anyone was aksing. Don’t forget to share, like and comment for suggestions and questions. Happy Polishing!

Deadly Sins Challenge – Day 06: Greed (My Precious)

Hey guys well today is another manicure for the Deadly sins challenge. Today’s sin is greed and the theme was ” Remember, more is more, don’t hold yourself back”. Okay so this is my first time using any kind of loose glitter or studs or whatever you want to call hexagon glitter so I bought it and tried to fill a nail with hexagon glitter as I had seen on the internet, but as you can imagine it didn’t turn out as I expected so after failing on one nail I took them all off. I had to do something with those glitters, which I bought in Essence but are too big to cover a whole nail, that’s why I couldn’t make it look nice, i just went a bit simple but well they are shiney and precious and I’ve paid money for the glitter so I’m not throwing them away, they are my precious hahah I quite like them but they are a bit too big to do what I wanted.

They don’t look that bad but I’m not used to not doing nail art on my nails it’s a bit weird. I think I will get rid of them asap, well if i have time. I hope you like them more than I do hahaah. If anyone was wondering what wonderful color I used, because you have to admit it’s a gorgeous blue it’s Love Nails by Sinful Colors, this one right here:

Well guys don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Happy polishing.

Red Galaxy Tutorial

Hey guys! Well as my red galaxy nails were quite a success, at least between my friends- yes I have friends hahahah I’m not always painting my nails- I decided to put up this little tutorial on how to do galaxy nails. I hope it helps you create your own galaxy nails using different colors and different styles. It’s quite difficult doing a tutorial like this as what you really do is just sponge some colors on your nail but I hope it’s useful for you guys. Let’s get the show started!

1. As always you will need to apply a base coat to protect your natural nails and then paint your nails black. For this design I used black but if you use colors like pinks and purples dark blue also looks great.

2. Use a make up sponge, I cut it in little pieces and I use some tweezers to hold them, like this you get a more precise look. Sponge some red polish on your nail, it doesn’t have to cover it all just on random places. There isn’t really a wrong way to do it just tap it on your nail but before applying remove the excess of polish by tapping it first on a sheet of paper.

3. Sponge on your nail a coral red or something like that, as before not on your whole nail just on one area. When adding a new color use different sponges so they don’t mix and end up looking the same.

4. Add white to your nail, careful you don’t cover all the other colors with white. White will give this impression of galaxy space thing.

5. Add a dark pink or a really dark red, just a bit over the white and as said before not covering the entire nail.

6. On random spots sponge some flashy orange.

7. Add a bit more white and if you want over the white a lighter orange.

8. I sponged on my nails some more of that dark red we used earlier because it got all covered up with the other colors but if it looks fine without adding the red now it’s time to add some glitters, I used a silver glitter and a redish kinda glitter which had little hexagon glitters too. Don’t paint your nail with the glitter, get the brush remove all the glitter and then with the glitter that remains on the brush tap it on your nail randomly.

9. Using dotting tools of different sizes make a few dots on your nail, not too many you don’t want to cover all the colours you used.

10. With a thin brush (this is optional) make a little cross or two as if they were shining stars, but don’t over do it.

11. Add a top coat to blend the colors in and to protect your design. Don’t forget to clean up your cutticles after because they will probably get dirty after sponging so many colors.

Here are all the colors I used in this design in order that I used them:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, I know it looks difficult because there’s quite a lot of steps but it really isn’t it just need quite a lot of colors. Try it yourselves and tell me about it. And if the first time it doesn’t turn out quite well remember practice makes perfect. Don’t forget to share with your friends, like and comment if you have any question or suggestion. Happy polishing!

Red Galaxy

Hey guys, I warned you I wanted to do galaxy nails and here they are I couldn’t wait anymore! After doing those tests on my nail wheel, which you can see here, I fell in love with the red galaxy I tried. When I see galaxy nails I normally see them with purples and blues, reds aren’t that common so I went for a less common look.

They turned out like as I expected and I really like them. Plus the glitter looks gorgeous in sunlight. I can’t stop looking at my nails so shiny and sparkly.

After uploading those tests on galaxy designs some people asked for a tutorial on them so I will be uploading a tutorial on this design later on today or tomorrow with all the steps and colors I used. When I finish my work for university…. I seriously can’t wait until I finish my exams and summer arrives!

I hope you liked my design and you keep tunned for my tutorial on these galaxy nails. Don’t forget to share, like and comment if you have any questions or just a suggestion of nail art you want me to do. Have a lovely day and wish me luck on my literature exam tomorrow. Happy polishing lovelies!
