31 Day Challenge Round Up

Hey guys! I think it's time I finally post a review on the 31 day challenge, don't you think? I have finally finished my classes until january when I'll have the rest of my finals exams so I found some time to make a little collage with all the designs for the challenge to put together all the designs.

I can really notice the evolution I have made at least with my pose and the photographs I have taken. I still have to work on the lighting on the photos because it's different in each one. However the complexity of my designs has grown and I've been able to think out of the box for some designs.

I'm actually really pleased and happy that I decided to start this challenge, I have learnt so much and I've tried new things. That's the point of all this right? I still have a long way to go but there's lots of challenges out there I can try.

Which designs is your favorite? I can't really decide because I mean I really like how my galaxies turned out but also my Starry Night recreation. LOVE THEM ALL! I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend and happy polishing!

Grown Up Floral

Hey guys! Yes I know..... I'm alive though I just wanted to let you know by posting a quick design while I'm still preparing my round up post for the 31 day Challenge and while I finish all the university work I have.

I was inspired by a wonderful design by Candice which I recently discovered on instagram @mrcandiipants. She is an amazing artist and has wonderful ideas for nail art you should check her out. This design looked easy and cute so I went and tried to recreate it using two tones of green polishes. I am really busy guys sorry I didn't even take a decent photo of them. These are the colors I used to create this design:

I promisse, well at least I'll try, to make some more nai lart during the holidays. What I do know is that during the last two weeks of january I will have a holiday too and no exams or papers or essays to do and I will do an intensive nail art week! I hope you liked this design and have a nice week. Happy polishing

31 Day Challenge – Day 31: Recreate Your Favorite Challenge (Menage A Triangle)

Hey guys! It's been a while but this week has been crazy. I have tons of work I hope when I finish my finals in January I have some time at last to do some real nail art and make more than 8 posts in a month! Let's leave my stuff and let's get to the point. Today I am happy to present the last design of the 31 day challenge!! I can't believe it, I mean it's taken me like forever but I've reached the end!

For my last design I chose to recreate the ''Inspired By A Pattern'' theme in the challenge.

For my previous ''Inspired by A Pattern'' design I did Sherlock Holmes wall paper, here. I have chosen to make something totally different. The first one was black and white this has lots of shades of blue, the other one was nature-like patter and this one is geometrical.

I used four different blues and white to create this design. These are all the colors that I used:

I am so happy to have finished the challenge. It has been a wonderful experience. I will post a round up of all the designs shortly and I will make a kind of review of the experience of my first 31 day challenge. Until then you can find all the designs here. Happy polishing!

31 Day Challenge – Day 30: Inspired By A Tutorial (Purple Nimbus)

Hey guys! I'm back with another design for the 31 day challenge, I'm so close to ending the challenge I can't believe it! Today's theme was inspired by a tutorial and I saw this awesome mani by The Nailasaurus some time ago and she posted a tutorial on how to do it. The technique is called nimbus and it looks really cool. I tried my best but they don't quite look like hers.

It really doesn't have to look this bad.... It should be more like faded. I don't know how to explain it. You should really check The Nailasaurus tutorial on Nimbus nails. Her's look awesome! Maybe mine don't look as good because I didn't use pure acetone. I'll try with that the next time I try them.

These are the colors I used. You can try different combinations. Sammy has already done pink nimbus, green and also blue nimbus and they all look amazing.

I really like the idea and I will try to perfectionate them when I buy some acetone. I still don't know what my last design for the 31 day challenge will be. The theme says to recreate my favorite challenge. What should I do? Check all the manis I have done until know here and let me know. Have a great week and happy polishing lovelies!

31 Day Challenge – Day 29 Inspired By The Supernatural (Know Your Symbols)

Hey guys! I'm back, sorry for taking so long to continue with my 31 day challenge designs. I've had problems with my latptop and I had to take it to get it repared. But I'm here now with a new design. The first I can think about when reading this theme is of course Supernatural the TV show, which I really like. I made a Supernatural inspired mani some time ago, Castiel nails to be accurate. This time I chose the symbols of the show.

I think this mani has been the quickest to make in some time. They were quite easy even if they look quite complex and elaborate, they were actually quite simple to do. Maybe the hardest thing to do was the design on my thumb because it had tiny details which took a bit longer than the rest.

I really like how they look and the matte just makes them... i don't know I like them mattified. These were the colors I used for this design, the matte top coat is from Flormar.

I hope you liked this design. I realise this is the second design in a row inspired by a TV show... I know I have an addiction problem but hey! the frist step is to accept it. Well I am nearly done with the challenge, I have lots of ideas to come so keep tuned! Happy polishing!

The Day Of The Doctor

Hi guys! Just as promissed I am posting a new design for today. Today is 23rd of November and it's Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary! As you all know I am a huge Doctor Who fan, you have all seen my previous Doctor Who nails. I had to celebrate this special occasion with a nail design didn't I?

I did an orange galaxy as a base and then painted a scarf inspired by the one the 4th Doctor used to wear during the sow. Then I just wrote HAPPY 50th as it was printed on the scarf. On my thumb I did the Doctor Who logo which turned out pretty good.

On my other hand I just did some candles with the same colors as the scarf but I wasn't able to take a good photo of my right hand, the pose looked weird and well I just gave up. For this design I have used tons of colors, just like always when I do galaxies as a base for other designs. These are all the colors used:

It's just a few hours until the 50th Anniversary special episode is on and I really can't wait!! I'm so excited. Is anyone else a whovian around here? Will you be watching it tonight? I hope you liked this design and have a nice day! Enjoy the episode if you are watching it and happy polishing!

Go Moustaches (Movember Nails)

Hey guys! I can't believe it's been that long... I mean nearly a week. I promisse I will try to compensate you. I will just say that tomorrow you will have another post, yes two posts in a row! Let's wait to see tomorrow's design and lets focus on the one I have today. Today's nails are for the Movember movement, which raises awareness of men's health issues. And of course I did moustaches, which is what all this is about.

It's just a simple design which turned out quite cute. It's the first time I've actually succeeded at paiting mustaches. I tried doing a Movember design last year and all the moustaches I tried doing turned out looking uneven and asymmetric. But these look good enough don't you thinkg?

I used brown as a base color and specially this one because it's neither too dark or too light and it contrasted perfectly with this gold sparkly polish from the same collection. These are the colors:

I hope you liked this simple design and I'm looking forward to continue with the 31 day challenge but that will have to wait a little because tomorrow's design is very special and has to be done tomorrow. WHO can guess?

31 Day Challenge – Day 28: Inspired By A Flag (Warholian Union Jack)

Hey guys! Today's theme for the 31 day Challenge was inspired by a flag. At first I thought I would do the Catalan flag but I already did it this September for the ''Diada Catalana''. I decided to represent my other half. As some of you may know I'm half English, so I decided to inspire my design in the Union Jack.

I decided to make the original flag and then I tried different color combinations, as if it was an Andy Warhol artwork. I tried to use really britght colors for the rest of the designs as I really want them to stand out. For the original flag I used the most accurate colors I found in my stash. These are all the colors I used in order of appearance:

The first color combination listed above is the one I used for my thumb.

What do you think about this colorful design? It wasn't easy to paint but I had lots of fun with all the different color combinations, they look very psychedelic. I hope you liked it too and that you had a wonderful weekend. Happy polishing!

31 Day Challenge – Day 27: Inspired By Artwork (Starry Night)

Hey guys! It seems I'm doing quite fine at the moment and not leting much time pass between each post. The end of the 31 day challenge is getting closer and I've finally arrived to one of the themes I was most excited about, inspired by artwork! I decided to make my own and simplified version of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh.

I did my best to recreate a fantastic artwork. I guess everyone here is familiar with the painting, but just in case.. just in case I will post a photo here so you can see how my design doesn't make justice to one of my favorite artists.

I did what I could to recreate the effect even if the shapes aren't really accurate and as I didn't include the moon on the four nails I normally show you I decided to paint it on my thumb where I had more space.

These are the colors I used, not that much considering all the blue tones I needed but I just used my blue base color (Essence) and mixed it with other blues and black and white.

I hope you liked this design, I really enjoyed painting it and I'm quite happy of how it turned out. What do you think? Can't wait to create a new mani and end this amazing experience of the 31 nail art challenge. Happy polishing lovelies!

31 Day Challenge – Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern (Sherlock's Wall)

Hey guys! I am really happy to show you my first Sherlock related mani. It's been some time since I've wanted to do one and I found the perfect excuse! I inspired this design on the pattern on Sherlock's wall.

The design of course has been simplified to fit my nails and to make it less complex. If I hadn't done that it would have been a total mess. The actual design in the TV show is more complex than this.

This is just the first Sherlock design I've done but not the last. When the third season airs, let me think that will be like in 100 years time at this rythm, I'll probably do another one. I hope you enjoyed this design. Do you watch Sherlock (BBC), I have to admit I AM SHERLOCKED! I really recommend it. Have a nice week and happy polishing.

Lightning Tutorial

Hey guys! I can't keep my promisses and at this rythm november won't be as active as I wanted it to be. While I finish my next design which is taking me more than two hours to get done I'm posting this tutorial some of you have asked for. The lightning design which you can totally wear anytime and in fact isn't that difficult!

1. Paint your nails a base color, it can either be dark blue or even black.
2. Sponge a lighter blue making some path for the lightning to follow, this will create the effect that the lightning is actually illuminating your nail. I also added some darker blue to make some shades. It's better to use little pieces of spong and apply the color with tweezers.
3. Spong some dark pink or purple on random spots just to give the design some color
4. From the base of the nail to the tip create a line with white or light yellow. It has to be irregular so you don't need steady hands for this.
5. From the original line make one or two more in different directions. Remember to make them edgy like lightnings.
6. Apply top coat and you are ready to rock your nails.

These are the colors I used but you can try different combinations, purple base, black base and sponging with ligher colors. The possibilities are infinite!

I hope to see you try these out. If you do please let me know I would love to see your work, if you have an instagram just tag #thenailartshow or just put the link on the comments below so I can check them out! Happy polishing and keep tuned for my next design COMING SOON!

31 Day Challenge – Day 25: Inspired By Fashion (Eye On You)

Hey guys! I thought I could manage to do more than two designs for Halloween but I've celebrated it so hard with my friends I haven't done my nails until today! As I couldn't really do as many designs as I wanted, I sort of merged this challenge theme, fashion, with a halloweenish look.

I was inspired by a pair of leggings from my favorite online shop: ROMWE. I wish I had the legs to wear suspender leggings because I'm really in love with these.

I decided to make this design mattified because it looked more like it could be material like the leggings even if they are shiny nilon. I also tried to match the ye colors even if I didn't use them all I think they look pretty good.

This month hasn't been really active, I have noticed every month I do less designs... I have so much uni work to do! I'll try to make the most of it this month and make many designs! I'll finish the 31 day challenge soon and I will come with many new ideas. Happy polishing!

Scream! This is Halloween!

Hey guys! I'm back with another design for this Halloween themed week. This time I chose to inspire my design in a classic ''Nightmare Before Christmas'', one of my favorite movies ever. It has the best songs right?

I tried to put different elements from the film on the nails and I'm really happy with how they turned out, specially because the lines on the designs are quite clean and neat. I also like the design on my thumb, purple and yellow look great!

I was lucky to find quite the right colors for all the designs, here are all the ones I used:

I hope you liked this design inspired by ''Nightmare Before Christmas''. I'm looking forward to creating more spooky halloween designs, any suggestions? What things would you like to see? Let me know and happy polishing!

Bloody Drippin'

Hey guys! It's been a while... I keep getting stuff from university and I really don't have free time to do my nails and even less to post here. But I have a little surprise, I have decided to take small break from the 31 day challenge, which I have nearly finished, to dedicate this week to HALLOWEEN!

The first design I'll be posting is a typical drip mani, perfect for halloween and perfect for beginners! Bloody...........awesome right? Just kiding!

OK, so now I'm going to get a bit emotinal. Red dripping mani was in fact the first ever nail art design I did. I used a toothpick and I don't even have a decent photo of it! What a long journey have I done right?

I managed to find the perfect colors, my favorite nude and the bloodiest red I own, both from Essence.

I hope you liked this mani and you try it yourselves, you will find a wonderful tutorial on Lindsey's blog, aka Wondrously Polished. I am planing for at least two more halloween designs for this week. I hope you are looking forward to them because I am. Happy polishing!

31 Day Challenge – Day 24: Inspired By A Book (Coraline)

Hey guys! It's time for a new design! It's been three days and I can't let it be more! Today's mani had to be inspired by a book and I chose on of my favorite books which later became a movie ''Coraline''.

I tried to represent the most importante elements of the story on my nails.
  • Index: it's the key Coraline finds which will later open the door to ''the other side''
  • Middle and Ring: the needle and the two black buttons that the Other Mother wants to sow on her eyes. I know creepy right?
  • Pinky: the cat that helps Caroline through the story
  • Thumb: I copied the title of the book in the same style and colors

This was the main inspiration for my middle and ring finger. It's the moment where the ''Other Mother'' shows her the black buttons.

These are all the colors I used for this design, I tried to get the exact green of the plate and I think I did it quite well, don't you think?

Have you read the book or seen the film adaptation? It may look like a book for kids but I wouldn't recommend it, it's a bit scary for the little ones but I love it! That's all for today I hope you liked the design. Happy polishing!

31 Day Challenge – Day 22: Inspired By A Song (Lightning Strikes - Aerosmith)

Hey guys! Have you missed me? It's time for a new design for the 31 day challenge. I'm slowly getting closer to the end of this challenge but I'm having so much fun. So today's theme was ''inspired by a song'' and of course I chose an Aerosmith song ''Lightnint Strikes'' from the album ''Rock In A Hard Place''.

I didn't quite know what to do, I just knew I wanted it to be an Aerosmith song, and the other day I was listening to this album and I thought it would make a great nail design. I guess not many people know this song by Aerosmith, as it's part of their least known album, so if you want you can listen to it here.

For the background I used different blues and a pink to give it some contrast and as my white polish has runned out I did the lightenings with a pastel yellow polish. These are the colors I used:

I hope you listen and enjoy this song as much as the nail design. I'm already planning a tutorial on this design so keep tunned. Happy polishing!

31 Day Challenge – Day 21: Inspired By A Color (I Feel Sexy)

Hey guys! It's time for a new design for the 31 day Challenge, today I'm starting the third and last phase of the challenge with a hot and sexy design inspired by one of the best reds I own ''Feme Fatal'' by Essence.

I thought the name of the color was sexy enough to inspire a design like this. My nails feel seeeexy! And saying this they also remind me of The Rock Horror Picture Show, one of the last scenes where they are all wearing corsets ang singing and Brad says ''I feel sexy''. However the name of the color just gave me the perfect idea and I loved doing this design it was so fun and ended up looking really well. I'm even showing you how my thumb turned out:

As I told you before the color I used was Feme Fatal by Essence, it's one of the first red polishes I bought and still one of the favorites I own, it even made it into My Top 10.

I hope you enjoyed this design and you are lookig forward for more. Have a nice weekend and happy polishing to you all!
